The 29-year-old suspect arrested in connection to a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, after firing a handgun at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies, critically wounding one of the deputies in the neck, has been identified as Monolito Alexander Guerra.  

Suspect Guerra, a resident of Newhall, remains in custody on a parole violation.  He was initially arrested for a separate crime on October 15, 2014, and was sentenced to state prison on February 2, 2016.  He was serving a five-year prison term for evading arrest, a four-year prison term for a secondary charge of evading arrest, and an eight-month prison term for assault with a deadly weapon.  On October 19, 2017, Suspect Guerra was paroled to the city of Santa Clarity, and less than six weeks later, the deputy-involved shooting occurred.
