Traffic Advisory: Portions of Sierra Highway Closed Friday Night for New Pedestrian Bridge Installation

Posted on: 11/09/2018 00:00

On Friday, November 9, 2018, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, a new pre-fabricated steel truss pedestrian bridge will be installed across Sierra Highway to enhance trail connectivity and provide a safer alternative for pedestrian crossing. During the construction period, a full road closure will be required on Sierra Highway from Golden Valley Road to Rainbow Glen Drive. Limited access will be provided to residents only.

Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly. A detour will be provided that will route drivers to Via Princessa, Golden Valley Road, or the 14 Freeway. Electronic message boards have been posted to inform motorists of upcoming closures.

Following the night closure, the project will move into its final stage of construction. Future improvements include bridge railing, the extension of the raised concrete median on Sierra Highway from Golden Valley Road to just north of the intersection, sidewalk improvements, bus shelter pad, parkway landscaping and streetlights. The new pedestrian bridge will not be accessible until the project is fully completed in late December.
