Towsley Fire Suspect Arrested

A 20-year-old Lancaster man was arrested Thursday night for recklessly causing a brush fire.
Around 1:55 p.m. on Thursday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was notified of a brush fire that was ignited on the 23900 block of The Old Road in Newhall.  Responding sheriff’s deputies assisted Los Angeles County Fire Department with the evacuation of a U.S. Post Office, a paintball park facility and a church. 
A male suspect was observed by witnesses at the paintball park allegedly setting off a smoke canister during paintball games. The canister set off a brush fire which became uncontrollable.  
A suspect, was detained by deputies at the scene, based on witness statements. Suspect Zachary Garcia, age 20, of Lancaster was arrested, transported and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. He is charged with Recklessly Causing a Fire (Accidental). 

LASD Arson and Explosives Detail Detectives are handling the investigation.
