(dailynews.com) Lightning strikes have sparked two small spot fires in the Castaic area, officials said.

The blazes were burning near the southbound 5 Freeway, about 2 miles north of Lake Hughes Road, said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Melanie Flores, of Los Angeles County Fire.

Images on KABC-TV showed vehicles moving slowly along the 5 Freeway as the fires burned down an embankment.

In total, the fires have consumed about 30 acres, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials .

Fire crews were being diverted from another blaze near College of the Canyons, where a small brush fire had consumed more than 7 acres, Flores said.

The No. 4 lane of the northbound 5 Freeway at Lake Hughes Road will be blocked until approximately midnight due to the fire, the California Highway Patrol announced.

At 8 p.m., the fires were 70 percent contained.
