The public is invited to participate in a stakeholder forum to learn about the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and provide input regarding the formation of a Groundwater Sustainability Agency for the Santa Clara River Valley East Subbasin, which underlies most of the Santa Clarita Valley. The meeting will be held on Jan. 24, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sycamore Rooms of The Centre, which is located at 20880 Centre Point Parkway in Santa Clarita.

The stakeholder forum will include the following:

  • Representatives from the Center for Collaborative Policy will provide an overview of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and share results from stakeholder interviews.
  • Groundwater Sustainability Agency Formation Work Group members will provide brief overviews of their organizations as they relate to groundwater.
  • The public will have the opportunity to ask questions about the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and groundwater in the Santa Clara River Valley East Subbasin and provide input on the formation of a Groundwater Sustainability Agency for the Santa Clara River Valley East Subbasin

It is important for residents to note that this is not the same discussion as the current proposal to form a new water district between Castaic Lake Water Agency and Newhall County Water District. The creation of a Groundwater Sustainability Agency is an entirely separate and required action.
