(By Tim Haddock) The Hart boys basketball team is pulling away in the Foothill League standings. Hart squashed West Ranch, 83-43, and improved to 6-0 in the Foothill League. West Ranch, the two-time reigning Foothill League champion, dropped into a fourth place at 3-3.

The Hart boys are on a roll. They are 22-2 overall and have a five-game winning streak. The Indians are 21-1 over their past 22 games, the only loss coming against Oaks Christian by two points on Jan. 20.

In the game against West Ranch, Hart was up 46-22 at halftime. Lewis Franklin led Hart in scoring with 26 points. Myles Franklin had 20 and Andrew MacArthur had 10.

Ryan Beddeo was the high scorer for West Ranch with 19 points.

In other games around the league, Valencia beat Saugus, 62-42, and Canyon beat Golden Valley, 76-48.

Valencia and Canyon are tied for second place in the Foothill League standings with 4-2 records.

Valencia lost two games in a row before beating Saugus on Friday night. Malik McCowan scored 20 points to lead the Vikings.

Canyon’s Ben Taufahema had a big game against Golden Valley with 20 points and nine rebounds. He made four 3-pointers in the game.
