Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a male adult that occurred at the 23600 block of Via Valer, Santa Clarita, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at approximately 3:57 p.m. 

Based on interviews and evidence at the location, it was determined that the unidentified victim died at the hands of another and the suspect was responsible for his death. The cause of death is believed to be strangulation.

The victim has not been officially identified, but relatives told investigators at the scene he was Brayan “Brian” Rodriguez, 20, last seen Friday. The body was discovered just before 4 p.m. Sunday, in the 23600 block of Via Valer, Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said.

Deputies went to the home after receiving a call that a man was not breathing at that location. The man was dead at the scene, Navarro-Suarez said.

The suspect, Christian Ortiz, a male Hispanic adult has been booked for murder and was held in lieu of $1 million bail.  At this time we are not revealing the motive for the crime.
