As part of the Orchard Village Road Median Turf Removal project, nine medians on Orchard Village Road will be refurbished. Work will take place from November 2017 until approximately August 2018.

This project includes the replacement of the existing grass and irrigation system, with new landscaping that requires less water and a new, more durable and efficient irrigation system. Concrete pavers will also be installed around the perimeter of all the medians. Designated viewing areas for the annual Fourth of July parade route will be established between Lyons Avenue and 16th Street.

As of November 14, 2017, preliminary work has begun. This phase of the project includes repairs to median curbs and the installation of irrigation sleeves under Orchard Village Road. This is expected to be complete by the end of November. The rest of the project will begin early December on the medians nearest Lyons Avenue and continue north towards McBean Parkway.  Work is scheduled to be complete by the end of August 2018.

Residents who commute along Orchard Village Road are encouraged to pay attention to construction signs, and anticipate some lane closures and traffic delays. Lane closures will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., however, some nighttime and weekend work may be required.

This project is part of the citywide Major Thoroughfare Median Turf Removal Program and supports the Community Beautification theme in the City of Santa Clarita’s five-year strategic plan, Santa Clarita 2020.
