CityBus.jpgThe City of Santa Clarita will restructure its Transit fares for both local and commuter routes starting Sunday, August 1, 2010. Local transfers are being replaced by a “Local Day Pass” which allows riders to travel on Santa Clarita Transit as many times as they would like during an operational day. The cost of the Local Day Pass is $2.50. The single local route fare will remain $1.00 and the reduced fare will continue to be free. Local monthly passes will see an increase from $25 per month to $30 per month. (more…)

Antonovich joined San Bernardino County Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt (1st District) in Washington D.C. to discuss the E-220 High Desert Corridor (HDC) project with officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Initiated by Antonovich and Mitzelfelt in 2006, the High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Authority is a single-purpose agency to accelerate the implementation of the High Desert Corridor — a multi-lane expressway connecting State Route 14 in Palmdale to Interstate 15 in Victorville. Plane.jpg(From the AP) Alarmed by a spate of near-collisions involving airliners, the government is trying to find out why air traffic controllers and pilots are making so many dangerous errors. In recent months, there have been at least a half-dozen incidents in which airliners came close to colliding with other planes or helicopters — including in Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Burbank, Calif., and Anchorage, Alaska. In some cases, pilots made last-second changes in direction after cockpit alarms went off warning of an impending crash. (more…)

LACLogoBeaches and Harbors announced today a new boarding location has been added to the Marina del Rey WaterBus schedule at Del Rey Landing, the new fuel dock that recently opened at 13800 Bora Bora Way.  WaterBus service for Del Rey Landing will commence on Thursday, July 8, at 5:00 p.m. until midnight, to coincide with the first concert of this summer’s Marina del Rey Summer Concert Series. 

The brand-new fuel dock, Del Rey Landing, offers diesel fuel as well as regular and premium grades.  Fuel pumps provide up to 60 gallons per minute at eight hose locations.  A pumpout station and an oil change dock are available to service vessels of all sizes.  Transient docks are available for temporary dinghy tie-up, along with slips for boats up to 200 feet.  A convenience store open to the public will sell food, boating accessories, live bait and fishing gear.  Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.   

The Marina del Rey WaterBus now offers eight boarding locations throughout the Marina.  Passengers can take the WaterBus one-way for a fee of $1, which is accepted at the boarding location by a dock attendant.  The WaterBus will be in operation through September 6.

Boarding locations include Fisherman’s Village at Fiji Way, Burton Chace Park at Mindanao Way, Waterfront Walk/Fire Station #110 at Admiralty Way, Mother’s Beach at Palawan Way, Dolphin Marina at Panay Way, Esprit I at Marquesas Way, Marina Harbor at Tahiti Way and Del Rey Landing at Bora Bora Way.  All boarding locations are ADA compliant except Fisherman’s Village.

WaterBus Service operates from 5 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays and the Labor Day holiday. 

The WaterBus will offer special Classical Thursday service from 5 p.m. to midnight during the Marina del Rey Summer Concerts on July 8 and 22, as well as on August 5 and 19, for concertgoers who prefer water transportation to and from the concert site.

In addition to WaterBus service, the free, clean, landside Beach Shuttle will circulate between Playa Vista, Marina del Rey and the Venice Beach Pier on summer weekends and during the Marina del Rey Summer Concert Series.

For Marina Movie Nights, the WaterBus will operate its regular Saturday schedule from 11 a.m. – midnight.  Movies start July 24 with Hair Spray; August 7, The Blind Side; and August 21, Shark Tale.  The last film in the Movie Nights lineup is Arctic Tale scheduled for September 4.

Plane.jpg(From the latimes.com) Federal safety regulators are investigating the near-collision of a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 and a small private plane that was practicing landings Monday at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board said Friday that the incident occurred about 11 a.m. as Southwest Flight 649 from Oakland, carrying 119 passengers and five crew members, was landing on Runway 8.
