“Awesome” Stevenson Ranch Fireworks; Antonovich pays Surprise Visit to Show

The 10th Anniversary Stevenson Ranch Fireworks Spectacular lived up to its name. The event was clearly the most spectacular display to date with a crowd, estimated by Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies, to be between 6000-7000. It was by far the largest crowd this event has ever seen. (more…)

Just got back from Rioux Park where we finished the set-up for tonight’s show. I met with several great volunteers, Rom Mechsner, Ronnie DeCeaser and Rick Ryan, at 5:30 AM in front of the Park. We put out the cones in the street for handicapped, volunteer and VIP parking; got the trash cans distributed around the Park; and put the barricades in place. 
It’s Thursday July 3rd and this is typically the busiest day for the fireworks show. I started the morning at 6:30 AM by heading up to the Rioux Park to measure off the drop zone. This is a critical step in the safety plan because it needs to be accurately marked 
Okay, I’ve been giving you a lot of background and behind the scenes information on the Stevenson Ranch Fireworks Spectacular over the last seven days, now a little about the fireworks. The actual numbers are very impressive for a little volunteer driven show. 
The Stevenson Ranch Fireworks Spectacular is a show that cost quite a bit of money to stage each year. In recent years there has been a perception that this event is paid for by the Homeowners Association (HOA) and therefore it is an entitlement of Stevenson Ranch residents; a birthright if you will. This is not true. 
We are now a week away fro July 4th and all of the paper work is finally completed for the Stevenson Ranch Fireworks Spectacular. Unbeknownst to most residents there is actually a lot of paper work that goes into putting together an event like our community fireworks show.
