earthquake.jpgAuthorities say a magnitude-4.3 earthquake has struck the Sierra Nevadas but there are no reports of damage or injuries. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at 7:44 AM Saturday morning and was centered nine miles southeast of Mammoth Lakes. A Mammoth Lakes police sergeant says the quake felt like a “little bump” and no damage or injuries were reported.

earthquake.jpgTwo mild earthquakes hit Contra Costa County on Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The first quake, with a magnitude of 2.2, occurred at 6:58 a.m. The second quake, with a magnitude of 2.5, occurred at 3:25 p.m. Both were centered about 5 miles west of Danville and 3 miles southwest of Alamo. Neither the Contra Costa sheriff’s department nor the Danville police received any reports of injuries. Saturday’s quakes followed three others that hit Contra Costa early Friday morning with magnitudes ranging from 1.7 to 3.5.

earthquake.jpgA series of small earthquakes has struck the Redlands area, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. There have been no reports of injuries or damage. The U.S. Geological Survey says the largest of the temblors was a magnitude-3.2, which struck at 10:13 p.m. Sunday and was centered about 6 miles south-southwest of Redlands. It was followed within minutes by a pair of 2.7s. A magnitude-2.5 struck at 2:21 a.m. Monday. A dispatcher for the Redlands police says they received calls from residents who felt the small quakes.

The tremor, centered 92 km northwest of Chengdu, was felt as far away as Beijing and Shanghai, where office buildings swayed with the impact reports Reuters.
