reportInformationAnalysisCQ Press has come out with its 2009-2010 annual City rankings based on FBI-compiled crime data and population figures. Camden New Jersey topped the list as the most dangerous cities in America. Camden, New Jersey also took the moniker of most dangerous city in the country in the 2008-2009 rankings. On that same list, the City of Santa Clarita ranked 342 out of 385 rated the most dangerous cities based on crime.

On the list of safest cities Colonie, NY was ranked number one as the safest city in America based on the FBI-compiled crime data and population of nore than 75,000 residents. The City of Santa Clarita slipped this year to rank number 52 on the list of 393 rated cities down from number 40 on the 2008-2009 list.

The CQ Press rankings are compiled several different ways which allows for a number of different interpretations. There are City Crime Rate Rankings listed lowest to highest; City Crime Rankings listed highest to lowest; alphabetical City Crime Rankings; and City Crime Rankings by populations.

 There are 215 cities nationwide with populations similar to the City of Santa Clarita which falls within 100,000 to 499,000 range. The top ten cities with the lowest crime rate ranking are: 1) Amherst, NY; 2) Irvine, CA; 3) Thousand Oaks, CA; 4) Round Rock, TX; 5) Cary, NC; 6) Murrieta, CA; 7) Gilbert, AZ; 8) Surprise, AZ; 9) Simi Valley, CA; 10) Orange, CA.
