Data Released on Feasibility Process: Antonovich Calls for an Advisory Vote to Allow Residents Opportunity To Decide Whether to Incorporate, Annex or Remain Unincorporated
Posted by admin under Annexation , City of Santa Clarita , County of LA , West Ranch Town Council [2] CommentsIn the next step in the process to determine the future status of Santa Clarita Valley’s unincorporated communities, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced that the County’s Chief Executive Officer has released financial data to the consultant retained to develop an Initial Feasibility Analysis (IFA). Â
Over the next 3 months, a consultant chosen by members of the West Ranch and Castaic Area Town Councils will prepare the analysis to provide information to Westside residents to determine whether they should remain in unincorporated Los Angeles County, incorporate into their own new city, or annex into the City of Santa Clarita. The financial data is also being provided to a consultant hired by the City of Santa Clarita to study the impacts of annexation.Â
Upon completion of these studies, public meetings will be held to present conclusions and to solicit public comment from residents in these unincorporated communities that include Castaic, Southern Oaks, Stevenson Ranch, Sunset Pointe, Tesoro del Valle, Val Verde, and Westridge.
Supervisor Antonovich is calling for an advisory vote to allow the people to decide the fate of their own communities. “Residents living in our unincorporated communities must be given the opportunity to determine their own future,†said Antonovich. “After public hearings gather and share vital information, an advisory vote is necessary to allow the residents to decide their future. The Board of Supervisors, the City Council and the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) must respect the will of the people most impacted by any proposed change in governance.â€

You don’t need any analyses or studies. Just have Westside residents listen to a few City
Council meetings and see how badly we are treated. Then show the Westside residents all the coalitions that are forming because our City Council works for Ken Pulskamp and their lobbyist cronies and treats us citizens like crap. Show your people how dirty politics has become over here. That alone should be enough to convince all of you to avoid annexation. Wouldn’t take long for Ken Pulskamp to find a new MRF site, though. He is probably drooling just thinking about all that open space over there, perfect for dumps and 15 story urban villages towering over every neighborhood.
SHOW THEM BENZ ROAD!!
You are fine the way you are on the westside. There is nothing over here worth being treated as badly as we are by a City Council that is under the thumb of our City Manager. Count your blessings and sit this one out. That is the smart thing to do until we get a City Council and a City Manager that care about this city and us. And there is NO chance of that happening for a very long time.

I find myself in a quandry…I don’t like Los Angeles County’s treatment of the SCV but now, thanks to the current city of Santa Clarita Council and City Manager, I like them even less.
I think you should incorporate the West Side into the City of…Mentryville…Why not? Historical and been around as long as the rest of the valley.
Really…avoid the hassle and stay with LA County until the voters in the City of Santa Clarita kick out that current crop of bums.
