Vote.JPGIn the next step in the process to determine the future status of Santa Clarita Valley’s unincorporated communities, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced that the County’s Chief Executive Officer has released financial data to the consultant retained to develop an Initial Feasibility Analysis (IFA).

Over the next 3 months, a consultant chosen by members of the West Ranch and Castaic Area Town Councils will prepare the analysis to provide information to Westside residents to determine whether they should remain in unincorporated Los Angeles County, incorporate into their own new city, or annex into the City of Santa Clarita.  The financial data is also being provided to a consultant hired by the City of Santa Clarita to study the impacts of annexation.

Upon completion of these studies, public meetings will be held to present conclusions and to solicit public comment from residents in these unincorporated communities that include Castaic, Southern Oaks, Stevenson Ranch, Sunset Pointe, Tesoro del Valle, Val Verde, and Westridge.

Supervisor Antonovich is calling for an advisory vote to allow the people to decide the fate of their own communities.  “Residents living in our unincorporated communities must be given the opportunity to determine their own future,” said Antonovich.  “After public hearings gather and share vital information, an advisory vote is necessary to allow the residents to decide their future.  The Board of Supervisors, the City Council and the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) must respect the will of the people most impacted by any proposed change in governance.”
