This Saturday the Community Hiking Club will hike Rice Canyon which is an easy, 4 mile hike. There are multiple stream crossings (low water), and a small amount of gain at the end of the hike. You will end up at a lovely old oak tree on a plateau with a beautiful view of Santa Clarita.

 

Those interested in the hike should meet at the East Canyon trail head no later than 8:30. Free Parking available on the street. Parking in the MRCA lot is $3.00. To get to East Canyon from Valencia, exit I-5 at Calgrove, turn right and proceed South on the Old Road. Pass Towsley Cyn, the post office, and the Church of the Nazarene. As soon as you pass the Church of the Nazarene, turn right into an asphalt drive. Make an immediate left onto a service road. You will see a sign that says “East Canyon”.
