Posted by admin under Parks , County of LA , LocalLos Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and representatives from the City of Santa Clarita, Mountain and Recreation Conservation Authority, Allied Waste, and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation dedicated 400-acres of land in Elsmere Canyon to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority as open space for recreational use this morning.
“This project represents another step forward in our commitment to preserve open space areas for the enjoyment of Los Angeles County’s families, equestrians and hikers,” said Antonovich. “This unique open space provides a vital link between the Angeles National Forest, Placerita Canyon Nature Center and Whitney Canyon, connecting the San Gabriel, Santa Susana and Santa Monica Mountains.“
Established in 1985, the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority is a public agency of the State of California established pursuant to the Joint Powers Act between the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, which is a State agency established by the Legislature, the Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, both of which are local park agencies.
