Crime Reports: Thursday’s Hate Crime, Drugs, DUI; Lots of Activity in Canyon Country
Posted by admin under Crime , Local , SheriffFor the 24 hour period of Thursday, June 28th, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Personnel issued approximately 67 citations and warnings for traffic, parking and other related traffic offenses including misdemeanors and infractions. Deputies responded to 6 traffic collisions or related incidents.
Station personnel arrested and booked, or field released, 10 adults and detained 7 juveniles on 4 felony and 13 misdemeanor primary charges as summarized below:
Thursday - June 28, 2007 - 1:00 a.m. -Canyon Country: Deputy Griffy arrested a Canyon Country youth on drug and curfew related charges after conducting a traffic stop near Soledad Canyon Road and Langside Avenue and reportedly finding marijuana in his possession. The subject, MH/17, was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marijuana and Curfew Violation. The subject was also on probation and was transported to Sylmar Juvenile Hall pending future court proceedings. -ref 12042
Thursday - June 28, 2007 - 5:00 p.m. -Canyon Country: Deputies arrested an adult and two juveniles on burglary charges after they allegedly stole clothing and other items from the Canyon Country Wal-Mart. Loss prevention officers detained the individuals until deputies arrived. All were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony Burglary charges. The adult, Jessica Ledbetter, FW/18, of Canyon Country is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. The juveniles, FW/16, of Saugus and FW/17 of Canyon Country were later released on citation to their guardians pending future court proceedings. -ref 12100
Thursday - June 28, 2007 - 8:00 p.m. - Canyon Country: Deputies Armstrong and Hodge arrested Daniel March, MW/47, of Canyon Country on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and criminal threats after stopping him in the 27300 block of Altamere Avenue. The deputies were flagged down by a Canyon Country man who alleged the man had been showing up in different places since Monday, June 25, 2007, and repeatedly threatening him. The suspect was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on a felony charge of Criminal Threats and misdemeanor charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Hate Crime. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The threat incidents are still under investigation. -ref 12119
Thursday - June 28, 2007 - 8:45 p.m. - Newhall: Deputy Akchyan arrested a Palmdale youth on drug and vandalism related charges after responding to a call in the 23600 block of Meadowridge Drive and reportedly finding the juvenile in possession of marijuana and vandalism tools. The subject, MH/16, was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Vandalism Tools. He was later released on a citation to his mother pending future court proceedings. -ref 12118
