The new community Menorah has been installed at the corner of Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Holmes Place across from the waterfall. The stand is lit in the evenings along with the Christmas tree. Starting on Sunday December 25th, the first night of Chanukah, the appropriate candles will be lit at 6:00 PM each evening during the festival of lights. All are welcome to attend each evenings lighting of a “candle”.

The brand new, 6 foot tall, white Menorah has finally arrived and will be installed at the corner of Holmes Place and Stevenson Ranch Parkway this weekend. The lighting of the Menorah will happen at 6:00 PM each night of Chanukah starting on December 25th. Rabbi Mark Blazer will be in attendance the first night of Chanukah and all are welcome to attend.

This weekend, Friday December 16th through Sunday December 18th, the Santa Clarita Ballet Company is presenting “The Nutcracker” at the C.O.C Vital Express Center. The ballet will be performed by professional dancers along with local dancers from the Ballet Company. Celebrate the Holidays in style with the entire family. THE NEW SIGNAL AT THE OLD ROAD AND CHIQUELLA LANE [MC DONALD’S/ IN N’ OUT BURGER AREA OF SUNSET POINT] WAS ACTIVATED, APPARENTLY LATE IN THE DAY ON 12/7/05.

THE OLD ROAD HAS BEEN RESTRIPPED TO 4 LANES FROM PICO CYN RD TO SAGECREST CIRCLE [SOUTH] . HOWEVER, USE CAUTION SINCE PARKING IS STILL PERMITTED IN THE OUTER/CURB LANE AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS. Thanks to Chuck O’Connell for the update.

On Thursday Dec.15 th the Dr. Richard Rioux Park will be previewing some new skateboard equipment betwwen 3 and 5 PM. These ramps and jumps will be available to our community skateboarders on a regular basis at the park.

Los Angeles County Parks and recreation will be hosting a Holiday event at the Dr. Richard Rioux Park in Stevenson Ranch on Saturday December 17th from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. There will be refreshments, give-a-ways, a bounce for the kids, games and activities, plus a visit by Santa Claus. The event is sponsored by the Stevenson Ranch Civic Association and the Stevenson Ranch Community Association. All are welcome. Happy Holidays!

The West Ranch Town Council meets tonight, Wednesday Dec. 7th, at 6:30 PM. The meeting is held at the Southern Oaks club house in Southern Oaks. This will be the last town council meeting for 2005. The next West Ranch Town Council meeting will be Wednesday January 4, 2006.

The Holiday lights are now lit on the large pine tree by the Stevenson Ranch waterfall. The Menorah will be installed hopefully by the 19th. Over the past several years the community has used a Menorah that was made by Ron Mita a community volunteer. That Menorah was starting to show it’s age and the Civic Association has now purchased a beautiful new Menorah but are waiting for it to be delivered.

The Holiday tree lights at Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Holmes Place will be turned on this week. A new Menorah will be put up in the next couple of weeks.

A large Bobcat was spotted on Thursday morning Dec. 1st, 7:35 AM, at Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Poe Parkway leaping over a fence. County officials and the Sheriff Department were notified immediately, Animal Control was being dispached. Keep an on eye on your children and be alert!
