Los Angeles’ cool summer may finally turn hot

(From the sfgate.com) Southern California may finally have a summer after all. After months of temperatures way below normal, the National Weather Service said Friday that inland areas will heat up from Sunday through the middle of next week, reaching triple-digit temperatures in parts of the mountains, deserts and interior valleys.
Forecasters warned that the heat wave would likely heighten concern about fires.
Angeles National Forest on Sunday will raise its fire danger designation to “very high,” the fourth of six danger levels, the U.S. Forest Service said.
The thousand-square-mile forest sprawls across the rugged San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles and its eastern foothill suburbs. It was the scene of last year’s 250-square-mile Station Fire, the largest in Los Angeles County history.
