sheriffcarDetectives working the area of Camp Plenty and Fairweather, Canyon Country, conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Friday, July 23, 2010.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle said his driver’s license was suspended.  During his arrest for driving on a suspended license, detectives found four baggies of Methamphetamine and other evidence of drug sales in the car.

After arresting the driver, Byron Rousil, M/28, of Canyon Country, for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, the detectives wrote and served a search warrant on Rousil’s home.  During the search detectives found another baggie of Methamphetamine and a loaded gun in the home.

Further investigation showed that Rousil is a felon.  He was additionally charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.  During booking it was discovered that Rousil is an illegal immigrant who has been previously deported from the United States.  He has been detained on an Immigration Customs Enforcement hold, and faces possible federal charges for illegal entry into the United States.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
