Hundreds lined up of the official grand opening of the 63rd Goodwill Store in the Santa Clarita Valley today, Friday, June 25, 2010. The newest addition to the Goodwill retail organization is located at the corner of Pico Canyon Road and The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch. Shoppers were treated to raffle give aways and a number of free items “hidden” around the store.
The grand opening was well attended by local dignitaries with representatives from Congressman McKeon, State
Senator Strickland, and State Senator Runner in attendance along with local Goodwill Industry board member Jim Hicken, President-CEO of Bank of Santa Clarita. Ed Masterson from the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber and Ron Mechsner President of the West Ranch Town Council also spoke praising the newest retail addition to the community.
The West Ranch Town Council unanimously supported the addition of Goodwill to the community in the retail space formally occupied by The Good Guys consumer electronics store. Initially there was some concern in the community when it was first announced that Goodwill was looking at the Good Guys location. Representatives from Goodwill Industries came to a West Ranch Town Council meeting where they did a full presentation on the new store, which also serves as a donation drop off center, and answered questions.
