Ferry admits that County is Subsidizing City’s Sheriff Services

We would be remiss if we didn’t point out that City Councilman Frank Ferry answered a constituent’s question at the Special Meeting on Immigration Education held on Monday night, June 28, 2010, who suggested that if Baca “won’t enforce the law on illegal aliens, we should form our own police department.” Ferry responded by saying; “if you think it’s easy to form our own department you don’t understand it would cost 3-4 times as much to form our own police department and it would wipe out our Parks & Recreation Dept. and General Fund if we formed our own department”.
Now realize that Councilman Ferry is the same guy who told the unincorporated communities that the City was “subsidizing” the County areas with the City’s law enforcement services. The reality is that Los Angeles County is subsidizing the City of Santa Clarita’s Sheriff’s Department. If the City formed its own police department it would in fact cost potentially “3-4″ times more then the City is currently paying the County under contract for the Sheriff services that they’re getting.
Just another example of how information from some corners of the City is spun, twisted and distorted at will to serve the moment. It is always just a matter of time before there is a slip-up and these bastards get caught up in their lies!!
