(From the latimes.com) The Los Angeles county coroner’s office said Tuesday night that a 13-year-old Pomona boy died of a staph infection, not a spider bite.

Pomona police had said the boy was bit by a spider and were investigating whether it contributed to his death Sunday. He was in cardiac arrest when Los Angeles County firefighters reached his home after a 911 call regarding a possible knee injury, the Pomona Police Department said.
