The City of Santa Clarita is pleased to announce that the California Department of Housing and Community Development approved the City Council’s request to expand the Santa Clarita Enterprise Zone. The expansion is part of the City’s 21-Point Business Plan for Progress, adopted by the City Council in April 2009.

The approval is good news for businesses in the local Bridgeport Marketplace, Baywood at Bridgeport, and Granary Square, which can now take advantage of major tax savings offered through the Enterprise Zone program.

“The Enterprise Zone continues to be one of Santa Clarita’s most successful business retention and attraction tools and we are thrilled that our expansion request was approved by the State,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste. “We encourage all businesses in the new expansion areas and throughout the City to take advantage of this opportunity to realize significant tax savings.”

More than 150 City-based businesses have taken advantage of the City’s Enterprise Zone program since designation in 2007, representing more than $41 million in potential tax savings to businesses in Santa Clarita.

Additionally, the City will host a free Enterprise Zone informational seminar Wednesday, February 24 at 9 a.m. in Santa Clarita City Hall’s first-floor Council Chambers, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.

Business owners and managers interested in learning more about the City’s Enterprise Zone Program benefits are encouraged to attend the seminar. Please RSVP to RSVP@santa-clarita.com or call the City of Santa Clarita’s Economic Development office at: 661-255-4347.
