With the West Ranch, Castaic and Tesoro communities representing a large geographic are in the Santa Clarita Valley the Advisory Vote was a valuable exercise that will garner some important information. It will be weeks before there is real clarity on the voting patterns as the data will need to be mined on a precinct by precinct basis.

There is no doubt that in my mind that the current impressions will change once the voter patterns are fully reviewed. Although Measure A, staying in the unincorporated Los Angeles County has won, it only has won by a small margin.

The most important aspect of the Advisory Vote yesterday is that residents have rejected forming a new city in the Santa Clarita Valley. That was something that was predicted here at The Beacon because there was no evidence of a grass roots effort or groundswell to form a new City.

Now the task will be to see just where the votes for Measures A and C will shake out. If the bulk of the Measure C votes, annexing into the City of Santa Clarita, are concentrated in Tesoro that will certainly speak volumes. The votes will no doubt be in concentrated blocks but I will be curious to see how Hasley Hills voted compared to other parts of Castaic.

There will be a lot to discuss in the coming days and weeks.
