Commentary: Making Speakers be more Succinct!
Earlier in January, L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has proposed limiting the number of times speakers can address the Board of Supervisors (BOS) during a meeting. Having attended many community and BOS meetings over the years I have to say that limiting or compressing the time allotted to speakers is actually good and will force speakers to write down succinct comments. Yes, there are many things that I like about Mitt Romney. I like his high standards. I like his virtuosic genius in the private sector. I like the fact of his presence as the one person in America who has the talent and the experience to model new paradigms for a private sector that has become increasingly dysfunctional and centralized. Picture this if you will: a 3 milliliter bottle sealed with wax, with a miniscule label that I have to use a magnifying glass on to read "Grain Whisky, Scotland", and the only other identifying marking is a small group of letters and numbers. That's all I get in playing my new favorite blind tasting game in which I must describe, and then identify, some kind of whisky. (more...)
